IMPLEMENTATION NOTE / 15 OCTOBER 2026

A SIEM migration is a transition, not a data connector.

A connector proves that data can arrive. A migration must also prove that essential detections, investigations and operating procedures still work.

Map the current operation

Inventory data sources, collection methods, retention needs, high-value detections and investigation workflows. Record unsupported sources and parsing dependencies early.

Design for the target platform

Data models, query languages, normalization and incident grouping differ between products. Rebuild and test detection intent instead of assuming that a direct query translation preserves behavior.

Validate in parallel

Use a controlled overlap period where feasible. Compare source completeness, timestamp handling, field mappings and expected detections. Track ingestion cost and volume against the agreed design.

Agree the cutover threshold

Set written acceptance criteria and owners. Include unresolved gaps, historical-data access, analyst workflow transition and escalation arrangements. Define rollback or contingency triggers before the final source transition.

Close with evidence

Retain onboarding records, detection tests, change approvals and as-built diagrams. Assign owners for remaining backlog and platform health after cutover.

This is a planning guide. Product prerequisites and response behavior must be validated against current official documentation and your environment.
