IMPLEMENTATION NOTE / 15 OCTOBER 2026

Build the approval gate before you automate the response.

A reliable playbook is more than a successful API call. It makes the decision, authority and failure behavior visible before a disruptive action can run.

Separate enrichment from action

Read-only enrichment can establish context without changing the environment. Keep containment, account changes and external notifications behind explicit conditions and permissions.

Make approval meaningful

Present the evidence, proposed action, target and recovery path to the approver. Define which role can approve and how long an approval remains valid. Recheck the target before execution.

Scope integration credentials

Use least-privilege identities and a supported secrets mechanism. Avoid placing credentials in scripts, incident fields or logs. Define rotation ownership and test permission failures.

Design retries and partial failure

Differentiate a timeout from a confirmed failure. Use idempotency where supported, avoid repeated destructive actions, and route unresolved failures to an accountable operator.

Test the unhappy paths

Use synthetic cases to test denied approval, missing context, expired credentials, API errors and duplicate events. Record the outcome and hand over an auditable playbook design.

This is a planning guide. Product prerequisites and response behavior must be validated against current official documentation and your environment.
